1. Accurate Selection is the First Step to Success

2. Master the Golden Hole Size

A hole diameter that is too large can cause the screw to slip, preventing effective thread formation and resulting in a loose connection.

A hole diameter that is too small can increase the screw-in torque, potentially causing the screw to break or the sheet metal to deform.

3. Control torque to avoid overdoing it

The reliability of a self-tapping screw connection depends on the thread fit it creates. Using an electric screwdriver with adjustable torque is crucial.

Insufficient torque can cause the screw to be undertightened and the connection to be unstable.

Excessive torque can strip the tapped threads, causing thread stripping and ultimately failure of the connection. A harsh, squeaking sound during idle operation is often a sign of thread stripping.

Optimal tightening: After the screw head contacts the metal surface, tighten approximately half a turn to achieve optimal tightening. Setting the correct torque value ensures consistent and reliable tightening at every connection point.

4. Leveraging washers for both protection and anti-loosening benefits

In vibrating environments or when working with soft sheet metal (such as aluminum), it is strongly recommended to use a combination with washers or pre-install flat washers.

Protecting the surface: Washers distribute pressure, preventing the screw head from crushing or deforming the sheet metal surface during tightening.

Anti-loosening and anti-vibration: Spring washers effectively prevent loosening, ensuring connection stability under prolonged vibration.
